PGA Loving Tigers Positioning For Weekend

For golf fans everywhere The Open Championship is one of the best events of the year.  Besides being one of the four major championships, it is also held in, or immediately surrounding, the birth place of the sport.  The golf courses in the UK are fascinating to amateur golfers like myself but, like many others, I’m only guaranteed to watch the weekend if big names are involved.

In my eyes there are three real draws in golf, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and a great story.  Tiger and Phil are selfexplanitory.  A great story is very subjective, but occasionaly we all agree.  A few years ago when Tom Watson almost won The Open Championship and would have been the oldest man to do so was a great story to follow.  Some will say that Adam Scott or Bran

dt Snedeker winning their first Major is a great story.  I disagree.  Either Scott or Snedeker winning are good stories and I don’t wish that they fall off the leader board, but the biggest story that can come out of the final round at Royal Lytham would be Tiger Woods winning.

The talk in the golfing world for the last few months is about whether Tiger is “back”.  I’m on record as saying yes, but ESPN has yet to listed and there are a lot of young golfers that train similarly and have a lot of talent.  What Tiger is showing now is the the thing that made him so frustrating to play 5 years ago.  He is consistent.  Though he fell off in the US open, he has regularly been at the top of the leader boards in the tournaments he’s played.  In the first two rounds he has shot 67 and 67 by playing conservatively. en to me about anything.  He is winning tournaments again and contending in majors.  He probably won’t have a run like he did for the last decade, but that is largely due to the fact that he has changed the way golf is play

The PGA loves Tiger playing late during the weekends and so do I.  They get viewers and added press.  I get to watch the best in the world try and take down the best in the world.  When the weekend is over I will also have another story to write about and more than likely Tiger will be involved
.
