The fights this weekend could be more important for the UFC than previously predicted. With the sports world completely turned upside down, this marks the first time that the UFC is going to be the only respectable sports outlet on Saturday night in recent memory. Although pro-baseball will sell out at all levels the entire weekend, the majority of these fans aren’t going to be there to support their teams but instead just to enjoy a great American pastime with their families. The only real sport that matters this weekend will be the UFC.
The tension on Saturday night is going to be thick. With a couple of international fights, fans will be able to release some much-needed stress. On a weekend where Americans will be loud and proud, this should create a great environment.
I predicted three out of five on the UFC 130 fights correctly; lets make this one even better. These will be picks you can take to the bank and will help cushion the cost of illegal fireworks over the weekend.
Main Card Predictions
Cruz vs. Faber- This will go the distance. Cruz in a split decision.
Silva vs. Leben- I can’t stand either of these fighters. Silva is a snake and Leben is a mess. This fight should be Sunnin vs Leben but that is neither here nor there. Unfortunately, Silva will somehow weasel his way to an uneventful win by tap out after Leben has punched himself out. This will be the most exciting fight of the night and really get the crowd going. If Leben can stay in control, this might be a different story, but Silva traps fighters with his superior strategy.
Ortiz vs Bader- This is a no brainer. Ortiz hasn’t won a fight in almost a half-decade. Looks like him and Jenna Jamison have taken a hard hit in the economic recession and both have gone soft. If it weren’t for Ken Shamrock, Ortiz would have never have been such a big deal. Bader will control the fight and pummel Ortiz all night. I don’t see this going past the second round. Bader will knock him out in the 2nd round with punches. This will be a great moment in the UFC as Ortiz will be forced into retirement and no one will ever have to see his smug face again.
Condit vs. Kim- This will be a battle. Outside of Condit’s last win with an early KO, both these fighters like to grind it out. Condit needs to watch out for Kim’s clinch but should be fine as he is an incredibly versatile finisher. Condit will win by decision. Sorry Kim, but this is the USA and your undefeated record is only impressive in Japan. Kim is going to get exposed. Can’t wait for the USA chants in this one.
Siver vs. Wiman- This one could really go either way. Wiman KO first round.
Lastly, revenues for UFC 132 are going to skyrocket. Just watch.
God Bless the USA.
